Can't see the forest for the trees

Although BCAL is focused on improving our Community through our three pillars I thought it would be intresting to use the blog to post articles from all over the web. Some are, in fact most have a Bayonne angle to them but some focus on foreign policy and world affairs, because while we focus [...]

When BCAL for started I used to write and still do about our need to raise the discourse in this town there are some outstanding groups that perform this service. Concerned Citzens come to mind ( full disclosure) I am a member but my concern is that the younger people are falling into two catergories. The first being one of total disengagement they see the jj blog and some other blogs that are so vial with name calling a baseless accusations that they are turned off. As as an aside their are a few people who try to raise the bar but they often get drowned out. The group wants to get involved but doesn’t know how or in what way in the coming weeks we will be partnering with windmill alliance to formulate such a resource. So if your reading this it means you want to get involved so keep an eye out for us we are on most of the major social networks and are going to begin to roll out our offline program in the next month if u want more info please contact us at info@tbcal.com or bayonne@tbcal.com ….. Excuse the typos I’m on my phone :)

The end of civility the health care debate and our next Governor

As we’ve seen played over the summer the discourse that has taken place over health care reform has shown us that there is a shrinking middle ground in our public discourse, something I have written about before. I have seen it up close in the halls of Trenton where politicians of old, lament the way partisanship has ended the cross aisle discourse and consensus building. I see it when I go to rally or watch TV ads where caricatures are made of one’s opponent. Out of all the viable candidates for Governor so far, only Chris Daggett has attempted to focus on the issues, its unfortunate that the candidate that is the long shot is also the only candidate that feels that they can simply focus on the issues and propose realistic pragmatic solutions that won’t please everyone, but if that’s the case you often know your on the right path. In the next several weeks I expect BCAL will have an opportunity to speak with Governor Corzine and Mr. Christie, so that the people of Bayonne don’t need to dig for the truth or depend on what the surrogates say. They will hear it from the horses mouth.
